Welcome to the Superstation Blog! You may be wondering just why someone would want to post about an old cable television channel that saw its better days 25-35 years in the past. Well, it's because I cut my teeth on TBS when I was growing up, and I've met a lot of people online who reminisce about the good old days of the network like I do.
Before my family had access to cable, I used to drool over what was on TBS every time we visited my grandparents who did have cable. They generally watched TBS exclusively when watching TV, so any time I was there, I could catch glimpses of it.
The fact that I was a big wrestling fan meant that TBS was a must-have channel in my opinion since they showed various NWA wrestling programs throughout the weekend. Not only that, there were old episodes of Andy Griffith Show, The Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, and numerous others.
And the bumper advertisements for the movies they would show on the network made me want to watch all of the old ones they were playing. I probably would have never had any interest in watching something like The Beastmaster, or The War Wagon, or The Ten Commandments, but the short previews that were customary for movies like that were enough to make me wish I could watch them over and over.
Eventually, cable television extended to where we lived and we signed up. From that point forward, TBS was my go-to channel up until the very late '90s.
So this blog is going to focus on the era of TBS from about 1985 - 1997 or so. I play to bring to you all sorts of stuff like old TV Guide ads and listings, videos with various bumpers, and who knows what else. I hope you come along on the journey through time.
